FY 2012 Indian Community Development Block Grant Applications due: January 4, 2012 The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD's) Office of the Assistant Secretary for Public and Indian Housing, Office of Native American Programs (ONAP) has released a notice of funding availability (NOFA) for its FY 2012 Indian Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG) Program for Indian Tribes and Alaska native villages. FY2012 USDA Grant Program Guidance The U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued updated guidance and procedures for applying for its Rural Utilities Development Programs Technical Assistance and Training and Solid Waste Management grants. For details, see the attachment. AmeriCorps Grants AmeriCorps, A Program for National and Community Service (CNCS), has released a notice of funds availability (NOFA) for FY2012 state and national grants. AmeriCorps awards grants to organizations to implement programs that utilize AmeriCorps members to engage in evidence-based interventions to strengthen communities. CNCS has set aside 1% of available funds for tribal applicants. In the 2012 competition, CNCS expects to invest a significant amount of available funding to programs working in the six Focus Areas of Disaster Services, Economic Opportunity, Education, Environmental Stewardship, Healthy Futures, and Veterans and Military Families. The Environmental Stewardship focus area includes energy efficiency and renewable energy. Applications are due January 18, 2012 at 5 p.m. Eastern Time. CNCS will notify successful applicants by May 31, 2012. There also is a specific funding opportunity for Indian Tribe Planning Grants. For details, see the NOFA on the AmeriCorps website. White House Council on Environmental Quality Internships The White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) is seeking talented, hard-working students interested in using public policy to improve our nation. CEQ was established within the Executive Office of the President by Congress as part of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA). Under NEPA, CEQ works to balance environmental, economic, and social objectives in pursuit of NEPA’s goal of "productive harmony" between humans and the human environment. The challenge of harmonizing our economic, environmental, and social aspirations has put NEPA and CEQ at the forefront of our nation's efforts to protect the environment.
